Why we built a single-step cleanser.
Cleansing is the step most routines get wrong. Here is our case for simplifying it rather than multiplying it.
Double cleansing ??? an oil cleanser followed by a water-based one ??? became a routine staple on the logic that one step cannot remove both oil-based and water-based impurities. That logic is sound for heavy, full-coverage makeup. For most days, it asks the skin to tolerate two cleansing steps when one, properly formulated, would do.
What an all-in-one cleanser actually has to do
It has to lift makeup and environmental residue without stripping the barrier ??? which is a formulation problem, not a number-of-steps problem. Micellar technology, done well, solves it in one pass.
The cost of over-cleansing
Skin that is cleansed too aggressively, too often, compensates by overproducing oil or becoming reactive ??? the opposite of what a cleansing step is meant to achieve.
Where a second cleanse still earns its place
Heavy, long-wear makeup is the exception that genuinely benefits from a pre-cleanse ??? not a daily requirement, but an occasional one.
“The right number of cleansing steps is the smallest number that actually gets the job done.”
